DXCC In A Weekend

What contest allows you to work DXCC in one weekend? The ARRL International DX SSB contest! This weekend I participated in the annual event. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed it. Seldom do I have an opportunity to sit for very long at the radio. I operate for an hour … then… More »

ARRL DX CW Contest

I participated in the ARRL DX CW Contest this past weekend.  I didn’t fervently work the contest, but I sat down a couple of times and worked several stations.  Conditions were not the best…but also not the worst…that that I’ve seen.  I didn’t pick up any new DXCC entities…but did work a few that I have… More »

Contesting, Public Relations and Special Event N5W

When the weather outside turns cooler, I want to get back into the shack more frequently and enjoy the hobby.  I am excited about what I call “ham radio contest season”.  I realize there are contests all year long (and often multiple contests going on at the same time!)  But I REALLY enjoy the fall… More »

I didn’t have much time for operating this weekend, due to a business trip obligation, family shopping, church and some much needed outdoor yard work. As a result my TIS (“Time In Shack”) was limited. Having said that , I did enjoy working a few CW QSOs from hams participating in the Worked All Europe… More »

The results for the ARRL Int’l DX Contest (Phone) have been posted and the scores database is now published.  I placed 9th in the Delta Division in my category and power class.  Not too bad for only spending a short amount of time with it.  By the way, I placed 3rd in the Delta Division (in… More »
