Working NPOTA; New Wallpaper; More Rare DX

It looks like it’s been a while since my last post!  Work, work, planning for my daughter’s wedding and work seem to be getting in my way of quality radio time.

I’ve been finding 15 minutes here and there to work some of the ham activated National Parks On the Air. It’s been a lot of fun to chase them, although I will be the first to admit that I’m not as committed to it as some of the hams I see.   Some of these fellows have traveled all over the US to activate various parks and my hat is off to them!   I’ve got just north of 90 parks worked and there’s still a few months left in 2016.

Got home from work today and two pieces of ARRL wallpaper were waiting  – ARRL Sweepstakes certificates, first place Arkansas in my category in both CW and Phone.   I was quite surprised and certainly appreciate the awards.  I wonder though why it takes so long to get these to the hams?   Perhaps it’s all manual tabulation.  Not a job I’d like to have.

And when not chasing the NPOTA, I’ve been chasing DX.   Managed to work Central Kiribati and Temotu Province in the last few days.  If I can get cards or LOTW from those, it will bring my confirmed total to 297.  I had hoped to hit 300 by the end of the year…but not sure I’m going to get it unless the band conditions improve.

73 and see you on the bands!
